Career Experience

I've participated in and at times led round-table critiques on poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction for the past 8 years or so. I love the collaborative process and find giving feedback to others as helpful as receiving feedback. These experiences inspired me to become a tutor!

I Love Tutoring Because

I love the written language, and because I find it fulfilling to help people express themselves, find their voice, and be understood by others. Everyone has a story worth telling and a point of view that deserves to be understood—yes, even if it's "just" their perspective on some assigned reading, or "just" a research paper—and I'm honored to be able to help students tell their own stories and hone their voices.

This was my first experience with, not only this service, but with any kind of tutor so I was a little nervous. English isn't my strongest subject but my tutor went above and beyond to help me with my assignment. They offered SO much great advice and went into significant detail explaining how I can better my paper and why. They also made me feel very comfortable and was extremely encouraging. I never thought I would look forward to working with a tutor but now I can't wait to schedule an appointment with them!
